Nathan J. Thomas moved from New Zealand to Chengdu, China in 2014 without speaking a word of Mandarin. After spending six months studying the language, he traveled the country before moving to Poland in 2015. In 2016, Nathan returned to China and lived in Shanghai for over a year. He is now traveling as a freelance writer and editor of the online travel magazine, Intrepid Times.
